Counter Stool
Counter height stool.
-
Considering both comfort and ease of manufacturing, this counter height stool fundamentally consists of six parts: three rectangular shaped rods, two rings, and a seat.

Nylon, memory foam, steel

28" x 14"
I was inspired by a low 14” wire stool I saw and photographed in Atlanta, GA (see photo above). I began iterating on how the counter height version would come together. I began to create a system of ‘parts that made the whole’— 3 rectangular shaped pieces held together by two rings.
I then began the construction of a 1:1 scale model/prototype. Bending the wire, making a wooden jig and welding the parts together.
2 rectangular shaped frames of the same height come together with a slightly shorter third frame that is intended to act as a foot rest, this being counter height.
After the initial system of parts was welded together, a circular seat was made of plywood, memory foam and wax-coated nylon. The scale prototype served as a basic functional iteration to evaluate for comfort, dimensions and overall usability and ergonomics.
