Solar powered floor lamp for both indoors and outdoors.

  • The autotroph lamp project explores the applicability of a solar powered light source in regards to furniture, interior or industrial design as well as the usability of this type of wireless floor lamp in both indoors and outdoors. A light that produces energy through solar panels rather than consuming energy via an outlet connected to the grid offers a wireless user experience and low energy consumption.

In the spirit of rapid prototyping by hand the model for this autotroph was constructed by modifying a plastic fruit bowl to a circular solar panel and battery. Aluminum alloy conduit was used for the stem and the cylindrical base was cast out of cement. The model was finished using spray paint as well as a clear coat.
